A lot of candidates say, “I’m not a politician.”
Personally, I never even wanted to be one.
But I also know I can’t sit back and wait for things to get better.
So, I want to be a new kind of politician: One who’s excited to work with his neighbors to push for change at the state level. I know that state legislation has the power to make real, meaningful change for every Long Islander. I know because I’ve already seen it.
I am proud to have been a leader in advocating for the Invest in Our New York package, which won an unprecedented $10 billion in additional funds for last year’s budget. This money directly supported our schools when they needed it most and provided benefits to the most marginalized members of our community during the pandemic.
I know what it takes to show up and fight for what Long Islanders need.
As a co-leader of Long Island United to Transform Policing and Community Safety, I have spoken at legislative hearings, press conferences, and rallies on the specific ways we can achieve the accountability and transparency we need to end racism in policing on Long Island. After a year of fighting at the county level, I’ve learned that the best path to the change we need starts in Albany. Bills like End Qualified Immunity and Daniel’s Law are essential first steps on that path, and they’re moving through the Senate right now.
I know that change is possible, and I won’t stop until we get it.
I’ve gone door to door right here in Nassau County to tell my neighbors about the New York Health Act, which would unconditionally provide healthcare to every New Yorker.
Anyone who has shopped for insurance on New York State of Health knows that it does not actually provide comprehensive, affordable healthcare, but they often don’t know that a better way is possible. I’m proud to have joined the effort to bring that information to Long Islanders and invite them to demand what they deserve.
I believe in fighting for our future, now.
I never imagined I would run for office. I’m a scientist, trained in applied physics and computational mathematics. I’ve tutored and taught STEM & robotics to kids of all ages and backgrounds. I’m a musician and film enthusiast. And I’m a community activist who’s lived and worked in Nassau County for a decade.
